The Best Irish Coffee Recipe

One of our favorite cold weather cocktails is the Irish Coffee. It’s sweet and simple and easy to make.

It only has four ingredients, making it an approachable cocktail to make for yourself and friends. You can add whipped cream via a can, but homemade whipped cream will add a special touch to the cocktail. Check out different ways to make homemade whipped cream here.
Our Tips For Making Our Favorite Irish Coffee
- Pouring hot cocktails into cold glassware can cool your cocktail down quicker. To prevent this, warm up your mug first by heating up water in a kettle and pouring into the mug. Let it sit while you’re preparing the rest of the ingredients for the cocktail. Make sure to discard the water before pouring in the cocktail.
- For richer flavor, using a demerera simple syrup made from demerera sugar. This makes for a richer, sweeter flavor that adds depth to the cocktail.
- A half ounce of Licor 43 added to the whipping cream before whipping sweetens it up and adds a little something extra to the cocktail.
- Our Enzo Dark Roast Coffee is a great roast for Irish Coffee, as the dark, bold flavor stands up well and contrasts deliciously with the whipped cream.
- When layering the hand whipped cream, pour it slowly over the back of a spoon or barspoon hovering directly over the surface of the coffee. This method helps the layer of cream ease on to the top of the coffee without breaking the surface and mixing in.
