Cold Espresso Recipes for Hot Weather Days
Share
The summer may be winding down, but the temperature is not yet. August, in particular, can sometimes be the hottest month of the year, so don't reach for those hot lattes yet.
Iced coffee and cold brew are not the only ways to enjoy chilled caffeinated beverages. These cold espresso drink recipes will tide you over until the temp dips.
Espresso Tonic
This espresso drink can be found around the world, but is still working its way onto more menus in the states. It's refreshing, sweet, and perfectly chill for warmer weather.
"The combination of espresso and tonic water originated in Sweden in the early aughts, allegedly created by a barista at Koppi Roasters in 2007. It grew in popularity throughout Scandavia, and eventually made its way abroad through barista competitions, like the World Barista Championship." - Food and Wine
This pairing is simple enough, and goes exceptionally well with our espresso whole beans.

Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso
Sweet, creamy, and cool are often the preferred options for warmer months, and this drink encapsulates all three.
"Brown sugar shaken espresso drinks have been gaining popularity among coffee lovers in recent years. The combination of espresso, brown sugar syrup, milk, and ice creates a refreshing and indulgent drink that is perfect for warm days." - Table of Spice
This drink is perfect to make with our Nespresso® Original compatible espresso capsules.

Espresso Martini Popsicles
The espresso martini is still obscenely popular, and for good reason. It's delicious. This popsicle recipe has turned that cocktail into a delightful, iced treat.
"Since alcohol does not freeze, these pops are made with a base of cold brew and just enough coffee liqueur and vodka to bring a boozy bite. Since vodka has a higher ABV (alcohol by volume), the higher quantity of cold brew helps bring down the mixture’s total ABV to help it freeze solid in the ice pop molds." - Food and Wine
Our Brillante light roast makes for great cold brew. Shop our different coffee roasts.

And last but not least, we have a simple recipe that rivals the Espresso Martini in flavor but beats it in simplicity.
Carajillo Cocktail Recipe
This cocktail recipe calls for just two ingredients, making it an easy one to have on hand. It's essentially a spiked coffee that originated in Spain but took on a life of its own in Mexico. It is 1:1 espresso with Licor 43, a sweet digestif that tastes of citrus and vanilla.
While a short list of ingredients, the drink is not short on flavor. Licor 43 is a liqueur named for its 43 spices and botanicals used in its recipe, creating a robust cocktail to be savored.
The two ingredients together create a flavorful drink that you might find yourself reaching for more than the espresso martini going forward. Our whole bean espresso would work well with this uncomplicated yet complex cocktail.
Give it a try and make it yourself.
